this is another one of those ambitious experiments in psychedelia that i worked up with my friend henrik krogh in his home studio in odense, denmark (birthplace of hans christen andersen amd a lovely picturesque littlke town). i was feeling the influence of mccartney tracks like 'uncle albert' and wanted to write something with distinct parts. there's a ton of stuff going on in this track, including a tiny piece lifted from the very end of sgt. pepper (although we reversed the backwards voices so it's actually playing forwards). and if you listen closely--in the bit between part 1 and 2, you can hear a creaky door opening to the sound of the orchestra tuning up from the beginning of 'pepper' (again, it's just short enough that we couldn't get in trouble!). this one took forever, so i hope you enjoy it.

it's a very naive lyric, written at a time when i was a lot younger and as hopelessly in love as i was hopelessly insecure, so--naturally--i blew it. thank goodness this person is still my friend.

sweet one high above the ordinary skip the fall and skirt the worry every single second that we tumble toward forever's sweet never go without you never go without me sweet one love you sweet one let's forget the noise and hurry sweet one stay with me in bed 'til morning's over and another day unfurls with brightlit trumpets sweet all i ask of you is that you never go without me sweet one love me

who's gonna help me if you can't help me now who's gonna save me deliver me from my imperfection
if not you...
