about

i think i was listening to a lot of syd barrett when i wrote this, and/or robyn hitchcock perhaps;. either way, it's a mad hatter of a song with a reference to the wizard of oz and a bunch of random and goofy samples thrown in (if you listen carefully you'll hear tiny snippets--just short enough NOT to require the payment of royalties-- from the flintstones, ozzy and harriet, and some radio program introducing a dance called the 'molecule a go-go'*

i think it's a love song?

*Coed Demonstrates Failed Molecular Dance Craze, Circa 1964

Just in time to ride the last wave of novelty dances that began in the early 1960s with the Twist, a George State College chemistry professor came up with the Molecule-a-Go-Go. Alas, even the comely coed he picked to demonstrate its moves (and they said girls didn't like chemistry!) couldn't fail to disguise the fact that when it came to the dance floor, pretending to be a water molecule looked about as fun or sexy as a taking a pop quiz

lyrics

i can't live without you baby i wouldn't know which way to go lemons limes and flying saucers take me away into love's secret service take me away into a gin and tonic i turn into rain around you i slip out of flesh and bone i don't wanna revolution just take me away into a supernova take me away until we're scraps of paper no place like home there's no place like home leave us alone float away....
